RCC’s first Cancer Survivor’s Day Celebration
On Friday, October 22, 2010 Regional Cancer Care hosted the first Survivor Day for their patients and their guests. It was held at the Durham practice and had over 100 attendees.
As the doors opened at the start of the event all our physicians, midlevel providers and staff applauded the patients with a standing ovation as they entered the event.
Each survivor received a gift in recognition of their brave efforts. Community businesses donated over 30 door prizes. And what seemed like a never-ending supply of food and beverages were provided for our guests.
After the event, we received many letters and cards from attendees. Some of them read:
“What a wonderful celebration! We very much enjoyed the food and the fellowship. We look forward to participating for many years to come” – Harry and Marion H.
“Thank you all so much for a wonderful afternoon last Friday. Don’t know too many clinics that would put on that kind of affair for its patients! You are all so kind and caring.” – Karen G.
“Because of you I was fortunate enough to be a survivor. You all are very special to me.” – Madeleine P.
“The Cancer Survivor's Day Celebration was, indeed, a complete success. What a nice thing to do! All of you who work at Regional Cancer Care are very special. Thank you for the care you give to me as well as so many others as we strive to live one day at a time.” – Mary H.
We look forward to welcoming even more survivors at our next Cancer Survivor's Day Celebration!
